What is this phaq?
This is the unoffishal, please-ignore-it-if-you-want, just trying to help answer some of the more common frequently-asked questions pertaining to, for, and about alt.fan.jimmy-buffett. Since you are reading this in the newsgroup, you should know what afjb is -- but did you know that it is one of the busiest newsgroups in all of Usenet? So if you go away for a few days, much less a few weeks, don't be surprised if you find hundreds of posts waiting to be read. The moral: Check the newsgroup every day!

What are the rules for participation in the newsgroup?
None. Participate or not as you desire. However, like with any newsgroup, it's probably a good idea to lurk -- read the messages without posting any responses -- for a while until you are familiar with the regulars, the tone of exchanges, etc. When you feel comfortable, whether after a day or a couple of weeks, just join in the fun.
By the way, we do have a minimum requirement of 10 posts per day...

What is the KWFL?
The Key West Foreign Legion.
The Muse of afjb, Greenwoman, wrote the Tales of the KWFL in early 1998, and since then many of the regulars in afjb have joined up and moved to Key Lime Key, making up the crewe at the Parrotte Piratte Beach, Boathouse, and Bar. The only way to really get to know the KWFL and all the Legionaires is to read the Tales, which are on the KWFL Outpost on the Web.
If you'd like to partcipate in the KWFL, well, we don't have regular meetings, most of us don't live anywhere near each other, and the only advantages are psycho-spiritual (warm fuzzies). But you can have a neat-o badge and your picture in the Rogues Gallery and feel part of one of the most unique communities on the Net. Check out the KWFL Outpost on the Web (see link below) for complete info.

What else?
Nothing; not really. The newsgroup is a fine entity unto itself. If you want to have more parrotthead fun, go to the KWFL Outpost, which is as close to an offishal website as we have, and check the Links, the Rogues Gallery, and all the rest.
Feel free to ask questions. Everyone here is very nice.
